You need to consider the environment and conditions in which the forklift will be operating in, whether it is indoors or outdoors, concrete, asphalt or dirt.  These conditions will determine the fuel type and tyre type required for your forklift.

Forklift Tyres

There are three types of forklift tyres to choose from: cushion tyres, which are made of rubber; pneumatic tyres, which are inflated with compressed air; and puncture proof tyres, which are solid rubber.  

Because they are used for inside work, electric forklifts are usually only available with cushion tires. For heavy-duty lifting outdoors on uneven terrain, a petrol, LPG or diesel forklift with puncture proof or pneumatic tyres are the most common choices.
